One Time I Helped Someone Essay Example

One Time I Helped Someone Essay It was back in first grade, we had a big house, my parents were doctors and Im studying In a good school. I was rich back then. When I first met this half Chinese person named William 1. Mm, I TLD care at all. My dad hired him for the reason to work for our family. For one thing, he drives me and my siblings to school. I guess he was a driver. I always see him cleaning off the leaves from the roof, washing the cars, and watering the garden. I didnt talk to him; I Just know he is getting paid for what he does. After school, he came to pick us up and I suddenly heard, Your name Ingrain, right? I nodded and gave him a smile. I made a friend with a 30-year old man, It was unbelievable but I TLD think that way. He was someone I could talk to, I could play with, and hes the kind of person you can get along so easily. One time, I saw him by the window watering the orchids and plants. I went downstairs to look how he does the watering. He saw me and said Hi there! I smiled and went closer to him. Whats that? I asked. Its a fertilizer. He replied. Why do you put that? Its for the plants to grow healthy. I keep on asking questions but he never gets tired of answering. So basically, I was a kid who needs answers. He was like a teacher and hes a good artist too, Whenever I have projects, he would give me his time to do it. When he picks me up at school, and by the time I finished my homework, I would go to him and spend time asking and learning new things from him. He was a good man after all. William was a poor guy. He has a wife and four children to feed. My dad let him move and build a simple house on a lot we owned. With that, he wont have to pay any rent. I grew up and still he was there, still working for our family, still a driver. My dad find him very loyal and I do too. I have a lot more thinking than before but Im still a kid to him and our friendship grew even more. At school, we were waiting for my sister in the car, and all we do is to debate. We would talk about certain things and before you know it, the subject changes. That time I knew I was killing the time and having fun. He didnt finish school but he knows a lot of things. Why do you know these things? I asked him one time when he was at the garden. All he said was, Its all about experience. And I was wondering to myself, Whats that mean? It was confusing at first but I finally get the message. Just Like me, I learn new things from asking especially with him. I never thought It would be that fun. I help him bathe the dogs; I would join him to buy something my mom asked. He was Just hired as a driver but he still gave time and effort to do the things hes not supposed to. He was truly amazing. I know a guy like him has some troubles too. He once told me, hes son got sick and cant afford medicine. I said, now that my parents are doctors, they would be glad to help you. Sunday night, I was watching TV at my parents room and we suddenly heard a doorbell. Ingrain, get It. My dad ordered. I stood up, walking down the stairs thinking, Its 10:30 in the evening, who could it be. I picked up the door and saw William by the gate. He looks alone and I wonder why hes here in the middle of the night. I open the gate and he wasnt alone, I saw him carrying his child. Whats wrong? I asked. Is your dad there? Fee He looks very troubled. My son is sick so can you ask your dad If you could check him up? Okay, you better come Inside. I said. I hurried up to my parents room Ana tell teem Williams nerve. My ciao chicken Nils son Ana sake me to get ten medicine from the box. I know my dad would help because he was the kind of doctor who helps the person in need. I gave him the medicine we have at home and the good thing is he doesnt h ave to pay. I was happy for him and hoped for his son to get well. Unfortunately, the next morning, it was Monday; its time for him to drive us to school. I asked him about his son, its not looking good. Oh. I said sadly. Can I borrow some money? I know I heard him right but I asked myself why. Mimi see, my son badly sick and I cant afford money. He added. I know I get allowances from my parents and I barely use it, but I didnt expect those words to be hearing from him. My brother and sister were coming and I said, Ill give you later after school. Definitely it was hesitation I felt. My day starts, thinking about Williams problem. Out of the blue, he Just asked a kid like me for money. I came home and look by the window and saw him wiping the car, and I made a decision. I came downstairs and gave him an envelope. Thank you very much; Ill pay you back little by little. He really looks happy but still troubled. Sure, but dont think about it that much, I can wait you know. I replied and he smiled. I was kind of happy that day. I dont know why but I was happy I did something good. At school, the teacher always teaches us about helping people and I never thought I would be doing that. I never told my parents about this nor did William. It was a secret between us. The reason I didnt tell my parents was there was no need for them to know, its what I thought. It was time for me to act on my own, I need to make decision. He needs the money more than I do, even though Im Just a kid, he needed my help. Its been nine years now, I grew and grew. William was there, watching me grow up. I still help him, even though its from own things, I still would find a good way to help him. I didnt regret the first time I helped him. Im Just happy I was helping someone and giving smiles to him and to his Emily. I still didnt tell my parents, I know what I did, what I decided was right. When Christmas comes, I would give away my old stuff, my old clothes to him. Besides, I will not use it anymore, and his children need it. Hes still a driver and I would still ask him questions, still learning new things from him and still be helping him. That one day I helped William taught me something, something William said, Its all about experience. I finally know the answer. There may be new challenges to come but things here always go back the way it should be.

My Success Plan Essays

My Success Plan Essays My Success Plan Essay My Success Plan Essay My Success Plan Name: Course: Date: My Success Plan Step one: Defining a mission and vision statement In launching my business when I am ready, the first step is creating a mission and vision statement, which I will intend to achieve. The mission statement will define my business, its purpose of existence, its primary customers, products and services that I will offer. The main purpose of the mission statement will be defining the purpose of my business. With a mission, I will be in a position to know what is important for the business and what is not (Pinson Jinnett, 2006). It further creates a sense of direction by providing me with a focus. On the other hand, the vision statement will be the image of the business in the future. It will be articulating the hopes and dreams I have for the future and stating where I wish to be in the future. With vision and mission statement, I will be having a clear picture of my business purpose and future. With this, I will focus my resources towards attaining them. The mission and vision statement will help me with business planning. Step 2: defining goals and objectives The second step toward the success of my business would be defining the goals and objectives upon which I will dedicate my resources. The goals and objectives shall be aligned to the vision and mission statement. The goals will be broad statements stating what I intend to achieve in the long-term future. This will direct my planning and decision-making (Pinson Jinnett, 2006). The objectives will state specific targets achievable within a certain predetermined period. The objectives will be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-specific. The objectives will act as the steps towards achieving the goals. The goals and objectives will help me in stating what I want to achieve and when the achievement should be attained. This will be quite helpful in establishing a plan for attaining the overall goal that is the mission. Additionally, this will provide a focus of the business (Ehmke Akridge, n.d). Step 3: analyzing the market In this step, I will describe the market in which the business will exist. In this process, I will discuss the market aspects such as the targeted customers, competition, market characteristics and the means to gain a competitive advantage. Within this step, I will analyze and narrow down the potential customers to those who are likely to buy the product. Some of the issues to consider about customers will be whether they are local, national, international o global in order to know how to reach the customers (Ehmke Akridge, n.d). The age of the customers, gender, lifestyle and income in order to help in pricing and putting the right features to serve the different customers. Other considerations can include religion and social background. The other issue to consider about the market is its characteristics. For characteristics, some of the factors to consider can be analyzed using porter’s five forces model. The factors include supplier power, buyer power, and barrier to entra nts, rivalry and legal regulations. With a market analysis, I will be aware what I will expect and the needs to enter the market. Step 4: Competitor analysis After the market analysis, I will analyze the competition. This will entail conducting a detailed review of the competitors by considering such aspects such as market share, marketing plan, pricing, customer relationship, strengths and products (Ehmke Akridge, n.d). This will also require defining the close competitors and their nature considering not all will pose direct competition while some that may not be obvious could pose stiff competition such as shopping malls. From each of the competitors, a SWOT analysis will be conducted in order to identify their weaknesses upon which to take advantage. It is essential to understand the operations and strategies of competitors in order to make a stand within relative terms among the competitors as well as know how to compete competitively. Step 5: establishing a marketing plan Any business requires marketing itself to the customers in order to create awareness to the people about its operations, products and services. A marketing plan will focus on four areas, which include the products and services offered, pricing, promotion efforts, and distribution. In this section, the products and services will be defined in details as well as their function, benefits, what they offer and their distinguishing features. Features should include its color, size shape, cost and its abilities (Morris, 2011). Other aspects could include packaging, support and warranties. Pricing will concern the strategy used to price the products and services. Some of the issues that will be considered during pricing are costs of operating the business, competitions and goals of the business. Some of the strategies to be considered include scheming, mark up cost, and penetration pricing. Distribution will describe the way the products and services will be distributed to the customers. It also defines the geographical area to be covered. The decisions within this factor will focus on the distributions channels and methods in order to avail the products and services to the customers within the required time. Finally, promotional efforts will focus on communicating to the customers about the value of the products and services offered. It will target on availing information to the targeted customers (Morris, 2011). Step 6: Operation plan This will involve defining ownership, organization structure, management, production a resources and legal issues. The aim of the operation plan is to state the plans that will be undertaken in order to achieve the purpose of the business. This will include the production methods, processes within the organization, decision-making, flow of information and other operations that ensure seamless flow of work within the business (Covello Hazelgren, 2006). Step 7: the financing plan This step will deal with the sources of finance. Considering every business requires capital for commencing as well as operational finance to handle the budget, a plan will be necessary in order to succeed. This will concern with available sources of finance, emergency sources, how to repay in case it is a loan. Additionally, it will concern with forecasting costs that will be incurred as well as expected cash flows. This will be the final step before an executive summary is written to summarize all the points and placed at the start of the plan. References Covello, J.A. Hazelgren, B.J. (2006). Swear Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Swear - Essay Example I did notice though that so many people employ profane words as part of their basic English. I find the practice in general to be offensive and also to be a sure sign of ignorance. One can walk a city street anywhere and hear phrases peppered with the "F-bomb" and what not. For example "I need cash but I can't find a F------ ATM machine". I go about my daily business without having to caution myself in cursing thus this assignment was not one that I found to be challenging. I did note however, that I was intensely alert to those cursing around me. I wonder what would happen if people actually listened to themselves speak. We have a moment, and only a fleeting one after that first impression, to alter it. After one looks at us, they hear us speak. We usually use our voices to deliver a message to others. That message can be taken as true or false. That message can be delivered by one who is deemed intelligent or intellectually challenged. Cursing by no means conveys an intelligent thought. Some think that by adding a curse word they are delivering the word to follow it with an emphasized delivery, but it is not so. People like myself do not find ourselves amused or threatened by one who curses. Curse words are nothing more than wasted air and their effect can only be described as revolting. I don't have to refrain from cursing because I find the practice to be disgusting and a sign of stupidity.

Education for the Unemployed Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Education for the Unemployed - Coursework Example Education for the unemployed is a move that will cater for the education of parents so they too may be helpful in the education of their children. The budget to carry out this project is one that proves there is a lot of emphasis on the education materials that are to be used and thus push for there being an element of seriousness in the project (Jeffrey & Jeffery et al., 2008). The move is one that will encourage parents to push their children to try and give their all in the classroom and be able to get a future that is stable. Education the unemployed without asking them for anything in return but to give their children an education, the parents will be more than helpful if they aim to ensure that their children are as well educated. The budgetary allocation of $100,000 was to make sure that the education program was to go on without a hitch. $30,000 is to be used for the salaries top the teachers and the staff that are involved in the teaching process. $10,500 is to be allocated to the curriculum materials that the parents would use to learn, $2000 for the training of the staff and the teachers that would be teaching the parents as well. Furthermore, the money would be used to train the parents as well in the methods and means that are used in teaching. $9,500 would be used for administrative purposes, $1,500 for the development of the project and as a result $8,000 would be used in the benefits of program. With education there is always the requirement for there to be some out-of-class experience, thus there are bound to be trips, thus the allocation of $30,000 for travel, with $3,500 used for the operations of the school and $2,000 for the receipt of licenses so as to ensure that the school is as well legitim ate in the eyes of the government and the education governing boards. There will be a need for some miscellaneous funds and it is with this that $3,000 is allocated for ‘other’ services

The Lamb Essay Example for Free

The Lamb Essay In Blake’s poem â€Å"The Lamb† it has two main themes childhood and spiritual development. Throughout the poem Blake writes about a creator and innocence. The poem begins with a child asking a simple question of â€Å"Little Lamb who made thee†? (pg. 134) As children we have all asked this question wanting to know where did we come from or how did we get here? Even after many years scientist and bible scholars still argue over this issue. The child in the poem wonders how the lamb got its wool coat and how it survives outdoors in the elements. He knows it is not by chance or luck. The child thinks that it must be someone greater who created him and the lamb. Did Blake intentionally write this poem to have a spiritual effect? I personally feel he did Blake’s religious views were expressed in many of his works. For Blake Jesus symbolizes the essential bond and unity between spirituality and humanity. The entire poem focuses on the lamb and innocence. The Lamb is mentioned throughout the entire bible mostly acknowledged in the New Testament. Revelations 5:12,13 say â€Å"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever†. (KJV pg)The Reference to Jesus as lamb fortifies the Christian ideals of tenderness, humbleness, and peace. The Child seeks knowledge about the lamb wanting to know why he and the lamb were created after thinking about it and realizing that Jesus is the Lamb and that God is his Father and he made everyone and everything he answers his own questions. The child blesses the lamb at the end of the poem. The poem has a personal tone and sound effects. In â€Å"The Lamb† the child is the main speaker and that gives the poem a childlike tone. This is a simple poem that uses the child-like speaker to ask to deal with complex thoughts and questions. This is also an example of an apostrophe in which the child is addressing the lamb as if they are having a conversation. Kennedy and Gioia state â€Å"the speaker is obviously a persona, or fictitious character: not the poet, but the poet’s creation† (p. 430). â€Å"The Lamb† is almost in the form of a song that a child would sing on the playground. â€Å"The Lamb† is a lyric poem (Kennedy and Gioia) â€Å"a short poem expressing the thoughts and feelings of a single speaker (p. 413). It has a simple rhyme scheme AA BB CC DD AA AA EF GG FE AA. In the first stanza it is simple asking questions, while the second is focused more toward spirituality. â€Å"The Lamb† uses alliteration and assonance and that produces a sound effect in the poem. â€Å"The Lamb† is full of symbolism. Arthur Symons in The Symbolist Movement in Literature writes â€Å"Symbolism, as seen in the writers of our day, would have no value if it were not seen also, under one disguise or another, in every great imaginative writer (pg. 3). A lamb is a mild and meek creature that is both brave and obedient. A lamb also has a childlike quality and innocence. Through the entire poem the lamb and the child are reflections of one another, the child and the lamb are both innocent and meek. William Blake uses symbolic words to create extensive metaphors about the lamb. Jesus as a lamb supports the Christian ideals of tenderness, humbleness, and peace. The lamb is a symbol of placidness of character and patience under suffering. Similar to several of the poems in the book Songs of Innocence, it is acknowledged that Blake looked at the optimistic characteristics of standard Christian belief. However his poems do not offer enough substance, since it falls short in accounting for the occurrence of pain and evil in the world. In Blake’s poem â€Å"The Lamb† it has two main themes childhood and spiritual development. Throughout the poem Blake writes about a creator and innocence. Blake intentionally writes this poem to have spiritual effects on its readers. The Child seeks knowledge about the lamb wanting to know why he and the lamb were created after thinking about it and realizing that Jesus is the Lamb and that God is his Father and he made everyone and everything he answers his own questions. In â€Å"The Lamb† the child is the main speaker and that gives the poem a childlike tone. The poem is simple and uses the child-like speaker to ask to deal with complex thoughts and questions. William Blake uses symbolic words to create extensive metaphors about the lamb. Jesus as a lamb supports the Christian ideals of tenderness, humbleness, and peace. These symbols give us more clarity in the realization that we exist because of The Lamb of God.

Wyoming-Colorado Border Wars Essay -- USA Geography History Essays Pap

Wyoming-Colorado Border Wars Deep in the heart of the American West lie two of the largest, most rugged, beautiful states in the nation, both of which have long been engaged in a heated rivalry. North and South from one another, Wyoming and Colorado have been at a border war since before either even gained statehood. With 97,195 square miles, Wyoming is the 10th largest of all 50 states. While the state is vast in land, it is scarce in population. As of 2005, a mere 509,294 residents inhabit â€Å"The Cowboy State† making it the least populated state in the nation (Wyoming facts, demography). Colorado, however, has a population of 4,159,000 according to the 2000 Census. Colorado is the 8th largest state in the nation encompassing 103,598 square miles (Colorado, facts). These â€Å"neighbors† however, have had anything but friendly relations. From water rights to football games, the infamous â€Å"Border War† has raged for over a century and will not likely cease in the near future. Long before interstates, college sports teams and cross-country travelers divided and merged the two states of Wyoming and Colorado, a natural border acted as a divider between the two. Near Carr, Colorado any traveler venturing down Interstate 25 drives directly through Natural Fort. A very interesting and large rock formation, Natural Fort once acted as a rest stop for travelers between Colorado and Wyoming. As cities in both states grew closer to one another it was closed, however, it still acts as a natural border between the two states. Natural Fort served first as the site of a battle between the Blackfeet and Crow Indians. On November 21, 1834 rival tribes, the Crow and Blackfeet, came across one another.
